"On the alarm going in the day time it was my duty

to fall in in the Charge room. I didn't do it this time because

I saw others stampeding. I have often practised the alarm, the

last time having been about a month before this affair."

8. Man Tim deod. *I am cook to the Chinese officers and

employees at Lok Ma Chau and on July 21st afternoon was in te

Station. About 5 p.m. 1 was in the Chinese cook-house beside

the compound. 1 was alone. I did not see 6th witness anywhere

about. 1 heard 2 shots fired and bolted straight for my barrack

1 did not see I did not notice any one in the compound.

9. Man Kan decd. "I have been station coolie at Lok Ma Chau

about 11 years and was there on 21st July. About 5 p.m. 1 was

in the only Chinese cook-house boiling tea. There were 2 or 3

others there too. I heard shots and bolted straight for the

store room across the compound. I did not see any one in the

compound. I was in a panic because 1 didn't know what was up.

I stayed in the store-room until the rescue party arrived."

10. Cheung Man Wai decd. "I am a police interpreter stationed

at Lok Ma Chau and was at that Station on 21st July last.

About

5 p.m. I was in my then quarters, the end room at the side of the

compound, together with my wife. My door was open. I heard

2 shots fired outside and then saw 3 or 4 Indian constables run

into the compound from the back gate. of these the Station Guard
